Sisonke Sibambisene ECD

We are so excited with the launch of an ECD on our land in Klipheuwel. Many years ago, Lwazikazi Sokutu started a creche in one of the shacks used by a church in the community. She had as her vision a place that would safely look after the young children while the mothers could go and look for employment and stay working, knowing that their children were safe and cared for.

She named her creche Sisonke Sibambisene - "we all carry the load"

She would start at 5.30 am and the last children would only leave after 6pm.

We saw the hardships that this creche endured and the challenges that it faced and decided to get involved. In addition, we met the leadership of the township and heard that an ECD (early childhood development) creche was a priority for them.

Through partnership with the Cipla Foundation we pursued the vision of an ECD that would give these young children the best start they could have in life.

We as a trust raised half the amount needed and the Cipla foundation provided the rest and above that.

We are very grateful to Steve Evers from ITMI for his generous contributions and for raising the bulk of what we needed. God astounded us with His grace and generous provision.

Medical research consistently shows that the first 1000 days of a child's life is critical to their educational and emotional performnce throughout their lives. We pray that this creche, under Lwazikazi's leadership, will give these children a profoundly better start and future.

We are excited to announce the involvement of The Pebble Foundation in training the staff at the creche through 2018. In addition to this training, the Head of Parklands College in Parklands has been allowing Lwazikazi to sit in on the classes there to learn first hand what to do with equipment and what outcomes to achieve as well as donating the equipment needed to the creche. Through this critical interaction, the staff will learn the state of the art best practice to implement in the classes.
