Sisonke Sibambisene ECD

Many years ago, Lwazikazi Sokutu started a creche in one of the shacks in the community. She had as her vision a place that would safely look after the young children while the mothers could go and look for employment and stay working, knowing that their children were safe and cared for.

She named her creche Sisonke Sibambisene - "we all carry the load"

She would start at 5.30 am and the last children would only leave after 6pm.

We saw the hardships that this creche endured and the challenges that it faced and decided to get involved.

Through partnership with the Cipla Foundation we pursued the vision of an ECD that would give these young children the best start they could have in life.

Medical research consistently shows that the first 1000 days of a child's life is critical to their educational and emotional performnce throughout their lives. We pray that this creche, under Lwazikazi's leadership, will give these children a profoundly better start and future.

Subsequently, Cipla sponsored the creche to be part of the "GROW program". Teachers now receive training and ultimately accreditation. Through this critical interaction, the staff learn the state of the art best practice to implement in the classes. In addition each child's progress can be monitored through an app on their smart pones.

Our prayer is that, under the leadership of Lwazikazi, many young hearts and minds would be trained and molded so that these children would become responsible and productive members of society who serve God and love their fellow man.
