Medical Clinic

2018 saw the start of  dream we have had for several years now ...... a medical clinic to help alleviate the dire need for medical care in Klipheuwel.

Previously, the residents of Klipheuwel had to travel into Durbanville (40km roundtrip) at a cost of R24 per person. They often arrive at the clinic after the quota of patients that can be seen is full and return home without being helped.

There is a mobile clinic, a Kombi (large car), that visits the informal township once a month largely for immunizations and family planning.

Many single Mother households survive on a social grant of around R750 -R1500 a month! So medical care is not affordable for them.

The clinic runs 3 days a week at present from 11am to 5pm on Monday and Wednesday and on Thursday from 3.30 to 6.30.

At present a qualified sister is on duty Monday and Wednesday and a doctor on Thursdays.

Funding is largely private support but we get a generous donation from the local Klipheuwel Business Forum toward covering the costs of the sister.

Already we have seen the benefit of the clinic as we have assisted in several emergencies and many cases that needed urgent referral or care.
